Mann-Benson Residence

Roberta Mann-Benson contacted Close Associates to renovate a large Close home in Deephaven, Minnesota to reflect her more formal taste. The house, which occupies a spectacular point on Lake Minnetonka, was built as a casual summer residence. Working with Bob Close, President of Close Landscape Architecture and son of Close Associates' founders, Gar Hargens designed a stone paved motor court surrounded by a great metal trellis. Single, lighted trellis supports march down the drive to the front gate. Window walls facing the court were rebuilt and fitted with art glass, culminating at a new entrance vestibule. Backlit at night, the new decorative facade announces the formal entrance as visitors approach the home.
