Underground Music
Library added with
$1,000.000 bid saving

Ferguson Hall, the Music School at the University of Minnesota West Bank, is an excellent example of architecture which respects and enhances its site. To the west, the Music School defines a quadrangle with much larger buildings. Its low profile and open foyer allow access to the park beyond. The acoustical requirements of Ferguson were extreme with timpani and flute to coexist in close quarters. Close Associates handled these technical problems with careful planning and low maintenance materials; a testament to our experience designing functional, durable, educational buildings. The construction bids were far enough under budget that an underground music library was added to the project in the center of the quadrangle.
